About the Role

To support our Finance organisation in Brussels, we are looking for a hands-on and experienced Accounting Manager. In this role, you will take ownership of key accounting operations, ensure strong compliance and governance, and lead a team responsible for the accuracy and reliability of our subledger accounting activities.

 

Main Responsibilities

You will play a key role in ensuring that our accounting operations run smoothly, accurately and in line with Belgian GAAP, IFRS requirements, tax regulations and internal control standards. You will coordinate closing activities, support statutory reporting and audits, and act as a trusted partner for Finance, Operations and external stakeholders.

  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities across general ledger and subledger processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, intercompany and bank accounting.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliations, strong documentation and consistent accounting practices.
  • Coordinate statutory accounting, external audits, VAT and corporate tax compliance activities.
  • Support treasury activities, including cash position monitoring, cash flow forecasting and banking operations.
  • Act as accounting key user for SAP S/4HANA and contribute to process improvement, automation and standardisation initiatives.
  • Lead, coach and develop the subledger accounting team, fostering collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a reliable, pragmatic and experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with a hands-on leadership style. You are comfortable working in a manufacturing or FMCG environment, enjoy improving ways of working, and know how to balance accuracy, deadlines and business priorities.

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent.
  • You bring at least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior accounting or team leadership role.
  • You have strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP, IFRS, statutory reporting, internal controls and audit coordination.
  • You are familiar with Belgian VAT, corporate tax compliance and related regulatory requirements.
  • You have solid experience with SAP S/4HANA and advanced Excel; knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
  • You communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and know how to challenge constructively.
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of French and/or Dutch is an asset.
